Shift from in-house data centers to service providers will impact IT jobs

In-house data centers at small to midsized businesses are proving to be an expensive IT proposition as more efficient and cost-effective options are being offered by service providers. For IT data center professionals, the trend likely means a job switch in the next few years. "We are definitely seeing a trend away from in-house data centers toward external data centers, external provisioning," said Gartner's Jon Hardcastle.
