Telecom-deregulation bill is approved in Kan. Senate

The Kansas Senate on Wednesday joined the House in overwhelmingly approving legislation aimed at deregulating telecoms in the state, in essence treating them as wireless or cable-TV carriers. Lawmakers will smooth out differences in the legislation before passing it on to the governor. "This legislation is trying to keep pace with changes in technology and changes in the marketplace," said state Sen. Pat Apple.
