Revenue from in-application purchasing grew from 53% in January 2012 to a record 76% in February in the U.S., according to a Distimo survey of apps in the iPhone App Store. Purchases made inside free apps generated 71%, with 5% coming from within paid apps, Sarah Perez writes. In Asian markets, 90% or more of all app-store revenue is coming from in-app purchases. Clash of Clans, Candy Crush Saga and Hay Day were the top three apps for revenue production. The combination of paid apps with in-app purchasing yielded the most revenue per download on the iPhone platform, Distimo said.
