Constellation says loan guarantee is needed for Md. nuclear project

Constellation Energy's plans to construct a third reactor at the Calvert Cliffs nuclear power plant in Maryland would be dependent on a government loan guarantee and higher natural gas prices, CEO Mayo Shattuck said. The company intends to develop the facility as part of its joint venture with Electricite de France. Shattuck did not give a timeline for securing a loan guarantee.
