Microsoft retools Office suite to compete with free Google Apps

With Office 2010, Microsoft will offer Web-based alternatives aimed at competing with Google Apps, tools that let users collaborate on spreadsheets and other documents via the Web. Both companies are targeting business users. Google says it has 25 million users for its product, but research from Gartner indicates that the lion's share of them are using a free version containing advertising.
