Spacecraft phones home with dramatic images of Mercury

NASA's Messenger spacecraft has taken the first orbital images of Mercury's surface, and it has begun beaming the dramatic images back to Earth. The satellite is expected to continue orbiting Mercury for at least a year, taking more than 75,000 images to provide scientists with the first complete map of the planet's surface.
