For the second straight week, carload traffic on U.S. freight railroads increased. For the week ending March 23, carloads rose 0.2% year-on-year, according to the Association of American Railroads. Intermodal volume gained 1.4%. Chemical shipments in North America increased 1.7% in the latest week, and shipments of petroleum products increased 57%, AAR noted.
