Banks say judge denied them access to evidence for MBS lawsuits

Several large banks have filed a joint petition with the U.S. Court of Appeals, saying District Judge Denise Cote kept them from getting access to evidence that would have helped their cases. The banks are being sued by the Federal Housing Finance Agency, which claims the banks misled Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac about the viability of mortgage-backed securities the government-sponsored enterprises purchased.
