LaHood: Calif. port's $83.5M rail project vital for export growth

The $83.5 million rail project at the Port of Long Beach, Calif., will add about 30,000 feet of track and is essential for more streamlined transportation of cargo, writes Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. "Together, these improvements will increase efficiency, improve cargo output, and provide a safer working environment for train operations," LaHood stated. "Our investment in this rail connection will mean greater volumes of cargo, and even more jobs."
