Natural-gas producers cut water, chemical use

Under pressure from environmentalists over techniques such as "fracking," natural-gas companies are seeking cleaner, greener ways to extract gas from the ground. Water-saving drilling techniques, environmentally friendly chemicals and even ultraviolet lights that eliminate the need for chemical sterilizing systems are all becoming more widespread, industry experts say.
