The key to managing creative workers is communicating a compelling vision, then stepping back and giving your team the freedom to do its thing, says Doreen Lorenzo, president of Frog Design. At Frog, that means daily "coffee break" sessions, at which workers are under strict orders to drop everything and play video games, pool and foosball. "Micromanagement is the death of creativity, so you have to create an environment where they can succeed," Lorenzo says.
