European Union adds airlines to its "blacklist"

The European Union has expanded its airline "blacklist" to include all carriers from Sudan and the Philippines. The EU prohibits all airlines on the "blacklist" to fly into its airports. "We are ready to support countries that need to build up technical and administrative capacity to guarantee the necessary standards in civil aviation," said Siim Kallas, European transport commissioner. "But we cannot accept that airlines fly into the EU if they do not fully comply with international safety standards."
