Cardiologists note safety, efficacy of carotid stenting

Past SCAI President Dr. Christopher White says carotid artery stenting is "getting safer every day." A position statement in the journal Stroke takes aim at calls for greater utilization of carotid stenting, but White and SCAI fellow Dr. Michael Jaff have published an editorial outlining the case for the practice, and White notes that arguments against stenting overlook important surgery risks as well as patient preference.
