Energy firms, green groups to work on shale standards

Environmental groups and energy firms including Chevron, Shell and Consol Energy have formed the Center for Sustainable Shale Development in an effort to promote standards for natural gas drilling in the Marcellus Shale. The goals of the initiative include controlling emissions, increasing groundwater protection, managing hydraulic fracturing runoff and increasing water recycling.
