EPA seeks changes to VOC emissions rule for oil storage tank owners

Oil and natural gas storage tank operators would have more time to follow an emissions reduction policy for volatile organic compounds under an Environmental Protection Agency proposal. Tank operators were given an Oct. 15 deadline to install reduction equipment, but the agency believes such equipment would still be insufficient by that time because of the startup of additional high-volume tanks. The proposal will also help guarantee "that responsible oil and natural gas production is not slowed," EPA said.
