Google's Asia-Pacific chief discusses monetizing, growth

Google is making an extensive effort to expand the presence of Android-powered smartphones and other mobile devices in Asia under the new leadership of Asia-Pacific Chief Karim Temsamani, Juro Osawa and Yun-Hee Kim write. Temsamani says Google will monetize its Asian efforts with a combination of search and display advertising. "If I see one challenge for mobile businesses, it is that, even in Asia-Pacific, more than half of the companies in the region don't even have mobile-optimized sites. The experience of users visiting a business website on their mobile devices can be a very underwhelming experience," he said.
