Hawaii bill would study biofuel potential of industrial hemp

A bill making its way through the Hawaii Legislature would establish an industrial hemp remediation and biofuel pilot program under the auspices of the University of Hawaii at Manoa. In addition to being an ideal remover of toxins from the soil, industrial hemp is an environmentally sound and efficient biofuel feedstock, according to the bill, which has already cleared the state House of Representatives and two Senate committees.
