Brazil is optimistic about improved sugar cane harvest this season

Brazil's sugar cane harvest began Thursday amid forecasts that the country's cane production will rise by 10% this season, according to the Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association, or UNICA. The group estimates that the cane harvest could reach 595.89 million tons, compared with 541.50 million tons during the previous season. Last season's poor harvest led the government to lower the country's ethanol-blend mandate.
