Analysis: GOP's anti-gay wing won't go quietly

Republican operatives involved in an effort to change the party's image on LGBT issues may have a fight on their hands. Some prominent Republicans say the effort threatens to demoralize social conservatives who vote largely on issues such as abortion and marriage rights. Pollsters say the trend lines favor reformers who want to broaden the party's appeal to younger Americans, but former Sen. Rick Santorum predicts "the pendulum [will] swing back once young conservatives see the real consequences to the destruction of marriage."
