CFTC exempts interaffiliate trades from clearing mandate

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission adopted a rule that exempts interaffiliate trades from Dodd-Frank requirements for clearing. "Interaffiliate swaps do not introduce risks to a corporate group," Ken Bentsen, acting president and CEO at SIFMA, and Robert Pickel, CEO of the International Swaps and Derivatives Association, wrote in a letter to the CFTC. "They allocate and transfer risks among group members." Read the letter from SIFMA and ISDA to the CFTC.
