CPS Energy taps Silver Spring Networks for IPv6 connectivity

The largest municipal utility in the U.S. will begin deploying an IPv6-based networking platform to power its advanced metering and distribution automation solutions under a new partnership with Silver Spring Networks. San Antonio-based CPS Energy is following in the footsteps of the Sacramento, Calif., Municipal Utility District, which partnered with Silver Spring in 2009 and has added a number of new efficiencies to bolster its traditional smart grid infrastructure.
