Critic: Netflix is on a smart path

Netflix is taking a page from traditional broadcasters by putting money in content, a model that has paid off for years for multichannel companies, says Willa Paskin, TV critic at Salon. Netflix is stepping into the footsteps of cable networks such as HBO, Showtime, FX and AMC, but taking it to the next level by capitalizing on viewers' desire to "binge watch" programs, Paskin says.
