Excitement grows for offshore wind development in Va.

Offshore wind development would have a significant economic impact in Virginia, which is one of just two areas along the Atlantic coastline designated as offshore wind zones by the federal government. An offshore wind project would bring between 9,500 and 9,700 new jobs in its initial five years, experts said. "There's not much doubt offshore wind will happen. The only question now is when," said Jerry Giles, the Virginia Economic Development Partnership's managing director of business expansion.
