Feds tap cloud and data analytics to reduce IT spending

Federal agencies are striving to trim $2.5 billion in tech spending and are using cloud computing and data analytics to try to make it happen. The focus of the PortfolioStat initiative is to eliminate IT duplication, says Steven VanRoekel, U.S. chief information officer, and to identify ways to share services, hardware and software.
