Health system merger comes under scrutiny in Minn.

A possible merger of Minnesota-based Fairview Health Services and South Dakota-based Sanford Health could put the University of Minnesota Medical Center in the hands of a company without strong ties to the Twin Cities, according to Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson. A public hearing has been set for Sunday. Representatives of the health groups say negotiations are not at an advanced stage.
