Lawmakers respond to editorial criticizing device tax repeal

Striking down the medical device tax is a means of safeguarding a key U.S. industry in an increasingly competitive global market, Reps. Ron Kind, D-Wis., and Erik Paulsen, R-Minn., said in response to a Washington Post editorial that called the Senate vote to repeal the tax a "budget-busting mistake." The pair also countered the editorial's argument that greater insurance access will lead to greater profitability for medtech firms, saying it has not been the case in medtech-heavy Massachusetts.
