Immigration officials are expecting to be greeted by a flood of applications for skilled foreign workers beginning today with the commencement of the 2013 H-1B visa season. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will take applications for the first five days of April with caps of 65,000 skilled workers from foreign countries and an additional 20,000 for people with advanced degrees from U.S. universities. Officials say they expect a repeat of 2008, when the number of applications exceeded the cap, forcing them to hold a lottery.
