Aloha Airlines ceases operations after 61 years

After 61 years of service, Aloha Airlines stopped operating Tuesday. The airline had filed for bankruptcy protection 11 days earlier, citing soaring fuel prices and intense competition. "It's very sad," said Sharlene Painter, an Aloha flight attendant for 30 years. "It was beyond our control and we were totally blindsided."
