Grand Rapids churches get ready for annual wellness competition

Churches in Grand Rapids, Mich., are doing some friendly verbal sparring and raising awareness of the benefits of nutrition and exercise in advance of an upcoming annual wellness challenge among congregations. The event is sponsored by the American Cancer Society and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan as a way to tackle health disparities in the black community, which has higher rates of high blood pressure, diabetes and cancer.
