NRC requests input on proposed N.C. enrichment facility

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is seeking input from North Carolina regulators about GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy's planned laser-enrichment facility in the state. According to plant's environmental impact statement, it would have a "small to moderate" impact on air quality, particularly during construction. "We are working hard on getting the license and will decide on commercialization at some point thereafter," said GE Hitachi spokesman Michael Tetuan.
