ZeaChem has started construction on the final phase of its demonstration cellulosic-ethanol plant in Boardman, Ore., adding features funded through a $25 million federal grant, said CEO Jim Imbler. The facility, which will use biomass to produce cellulosic ethanol, is due for completion in the summer, Imbler said. "ZeaChem is exactly the type of innovative company that is driving Oregon's economy and revitalizing our rural communities," said Gov. John Kitzhaber.
