H-1B visa applications are expected to hit cap this week

Immigration offices have been hit with the biggest application increase in five years for the temporary H-1B visa. For the first time since 2008, the government might have to hold a lottery for the program. The number of H-1B visas issued by the government is capped at 65,000, but last year the government issued nearly twice as many H-1B visas as the official cap.
