Maine pulp mill will pay $126,000 to settle wastewater allegations

Red Shield Acquisition will pay a $126,000 civil fine to settle allegations that a Maine pulp mill discharged 90,000 gallons of wastewater into the Penobscot River in 2011, violating the Clean Water Act. The company has cooperated with the Environmental Protection Agency and is in the process of making the necessary corrections at the mill, an EPA spokesman said.
