Sequestration cuts take their toll on Washington

The sequestration spending cuts are starting to have an effect inside the Beltway, with hundreds of thousands of federal workers poised to take pay cuts and both Congress and the White House making significant cutbacks. The White House has furloughed about 480 budget-office staffers and canceled some White House tours, while congressional offices are curbing their budgets and could face layoffs. Still, lawmakers themselves won't be affected: Their salaries are exempted from the spending cuts.
