Simple shape-shifting wire solves a pesky Corvette hatch problem

A wire made of a shape-memory alloy is a big part of the answer to the difficulty that Chevrolet Corvette owners once had with closing the car's hatch due to interior air compression. When the hatch is opened, a signal sends just enough current to the wire, causing it to shape-shift and open vents that allow air to pass out as the hatch is closed.
