Women can't get ahead simply by working hard, bank CEO says

HSBC USA CEO Irene Dorner says women need to advocate for themselves more forcefully to get ahead because they will not be recognized for hard work alone. Women must also focus on climbing the corporate ladder instead of accepting lower-tier jobs, she says. "I really do think the next push has got to come from the senior middle-management women who must stand up and be counted on this earlier than I did," Dorner said.
