Lawmakers discuss future of universal service fund

Some senators yesterday criticized the FCC for not acting faster to resolve outstanding issues related to the universal service fund, which is in danger of collapsing by 2006 unless policy changes are made. One senator also noted that the way the FCC classifies rural and urban carriers results in unequal distribution of funds.
