"Green" cleaning products contain petroleum, study claims

Many cleaning products marketed as eco-friendly contain petroleum, a chemical analysis suggests. Researchers used carbon-dating tools to test whether carbon in cleaning products billed as green came from plant sources or from petroleum, and found that all the products tested contained at least some petroleum. The tested products were still greener than conventional cleaning products but failed to live up to claims of being petrochemical-free, researchers said.
