Alabama completes I-65's concrete roadbed rebuild project

Concrete reconstruction of Interstate 65's "busiest two miles" in Alabama was completed in January. The work required the erection of a portable batch plant onsite to produce the required concrete for the pavement, and used about 75,000 cubic yards of concrete and 750,000 pounds of reinforcing steel. In addition, a 10,000-linear-foot permanent concrete barrier wall was constructed and 7,000 linear feet of RCP storm sewer was installed.
