Industry groups help reshape Hawaii bill on long-term care

NAIFA and the American Council of Life Insurers have helped persuade Hawaii legislators to revise a bill concerning life-linked long-term-care benefits. The bill originally suggested that insurers might have to make accelerated death-benefits provisions a standard part of life insurance policies. The new version says Hawaii will study the possibility of paying for long-term care with life settlements, viatical settlements and accelerated life-policy death benefits.
