Adviser training gets an overhaul at Merrill Lynch

Merrill Lynch Wealth Management is overhauling its standard program for incoming advisers, seeking a more intense and consistent training method. The company is adding a national curriculum, screening out people who have little appetite for risk or who don't deal well with rejection, and no longer will focus on people with a strong sales record. The program also will now include paid mentors and will last 43 months.
