Calif. act would require disclosure of data collection

The Electronic Frontier Foundation is backing a California Right to Know Act, which would allow consumers to request and receive information on the personal data collected on them and the companies with which they've shared the data. "The new proposal brings California's outdated transparency law into the digital age, making it possible for California consumers to request an accounting of all the ways their personal information is being trafficked -— including with online advertisers, data brokers, and third party apps," EFF's Rainey Reitman writes in a blog post.
