Deere plant in Iowa promotes engineering to female students

Engineers from John Deere Ottumwa Works in Iowa spent a half day working with 50 female middle-school students, aiming to get them interested in engineering as a career. The "Introduce a girl to engineering" event hopes to address the lack of female engineers in the workforce. Amber Pargmann, one of the company's team leaders for engineering, challenged the students to build protection for a potato chip to test their problem-solving skills.
