Ex-DOT secretary stresses vulnerable airport perimeters

Former Transportation Secretary Norm Mineta says airport perimeters are vulnerable and pose a security concern. Perimeters are not overseen by the Transportation Security Administration as terminals are. It's unclear to know if anyone who breaks the perimeter is just someone disgruntled or disturbed -- or if the person is a terrorist as part of a larger attack. "America has the technology to monitor intruders at and even beyond an airport’s edge, but too many airports are behind the curve," Mineta said.
