Ga. acting city manager is set to take post permanently

The Savannah, Ga., City Council is expected to name Stephanie Cutter as city manager. Cutter has been acting manager since October, after Rochelle Small-Toney resigned. Councilors say they support Cutter's appointment, citing her participation in negotiations on local-option sales tax, her economic-development efforts and her ability to create a cooperative work environment. "She has proven to be the person I feel can take this city to another level," Alderman John Hall said. "I don't think we have to look elsewhere. We have a jewel right here."
