GE, Alaska sponsor algorithm contest for arrival times

General Electric and Alaska Airlines have awarded a team from Singapore a $100,000 prize in a contest designed to help airlines predict flight arrival times. The team produced an algorithm that predicted flight arrival times with nearly 40% greater accuracy than the algorithms currently used.
