La. city's post-Katrina disaster loan could be forgiven

The Covington, La., City Council might receive forgiveness for some or all of a $2.3 million federal disaster loan received in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. A $982 billion spending bill approved by Congress last month includes disaster-loan forgiveness for local governments, school districts and law enforcement agencies in the New Orleans area affected by hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
