Nature-powered ocean array could harvest plastic trash

Platforms shaped like manta rays anchored to the seabed and powered by sun and waves could one day harvest a large portion of the plastic that is polluting oceans. That's the vision promoted by environmentalist Boyan Slat for his Ocean Cleanup Array, which he further calculates could make money by saving millions of dollars in damage done by plastics to sea vessels and beach resorts, as well as provide plastic for recycling into other uses.
