"[M]obile will confound the cookie-cutter campaign creator, bother the bulk emailer, and annoy broad-audience advertisers," Urban Airship CEO Scott Kveton writes. Application developers are going to have to deliver relevant value in their customers' lives and do a better job at distinguishing between a welcome message time and an interruption. Allowing customers to personalize their own app experience, as Redbox does, can create a "less-is-more" experience good for both sides of the equation, Kveton writes.
