Is U.S. Federal Reserve planning to phase out stimulus measures?

The president of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco projects that the Federal Reserve will begin to pull back on bond purchases this summer and will likely phase out the stimulus program entirely by the end of the year. When the Fed instituted the stimulus measures, it pledged to continue until there was substantial improvement in the job and housing markets. Gains in those sectors have economists predicting the central bank will begin plans to end the program.
